Fache's Initial Suspicions

The Bull's Hunt The Crime Scene Captain Bezu Fache arrives at the Louvre and immediately suspects Robert Langdon. He plants a GPS tracking dot on Langdon and sets up a hidden surveillance operation, hoping to catch him in a lie. Interrogation Fache questions Langdon about his relationship with Saunière and his manuscript. He is convinced Langdon is involved, especially after finding Langdon's name in Saunière's datebook and on the floor.

The Chase Through Paris

Losing the Fugitives The Soap Bar Trick When Langdon and Sophie fake the jump, Fache believes they have escaped. He sends his men to pursue the armored truck, but they quickly realize they have been fooled. Fache is furious and orders a citywide manhunt. Interpol Alert Fache contacts Interpol, putting Langdon and Sophie on the international watch list. He also learns that Sophie is Saunière's granddaughter, which complicates the case. The chase intensifies as they escape to England.

The Investigation at Château Villette

Discovering the Listening Post The Barn Lieutenant Collet, left in charge of the Paris investigation, searches Château Villette. In the barn, he finds a sophisticated listening post used to spy on Saunière and others. He also finds evidence linking Teabing's servant Rémy to the surveillance. The Breakthrough Collet realizes that the armored truck driver was André Vernet, who had lied. He also learns that Teabing's plane has taken off for London. Fache is informed and heads to London, but the chase continues.

The Arrest at Westminster Abbey

Closing the Net Fache's Arrival Fache flies to London and works with British police. When Teabing shows his ID at Westminster Abbey, the police alert Fache. He arrives at the Chapter House just as Teabing is about to shoot Langdon and Sophie. The Capture Fache arrests Teabing, who is handcuffed and taken away, still screaming about the Grail. Fache exonerates Langdon and Sophie, admitting his mistake. The case is closed, and the truth about the conspiracy is finally revealed.
